Just returned from a trip to Budapest (read about the city on my website josecarloseiras.com) where I participated in the 2012 CIO Forum sponsored by FIGYELÖ a leading publication of business magazines in Hungary.
Forum had participation of more than 100 CIOs from the largest companies in Hungary and was co-sponsored by Dell, Intel, Oracle, NK Services (large cloud services provider in Hungary) and ULX (Hungarian opensource systems integrator).
Palmyra consulting Kft, a leading technology marketing company in Hungary, headed by Veronika Toth, organized the event for the Hungarian CIO Association. Event took place in a hotel resort on the outskirts of Budapest, with a beautiful view of the Danube bend.
As a keynote speaker, I shared with the group my thoughts on IT Leadership and IT Governance, with the objective of helping IT executives be successful in this ever challenging profession.
This chart summarizes the five main areas of advice that I provided to the CIOs:
- Be part of the company business board
- Build a great team!
- Implement strong IT processes
- Take responsibility for IT
- Implement and enforce governance
